Hi Reader,

This week in For the Painter #57...


“Everyone is born creative; everyone is given a box of crayons in kindergarten. Then when you hit puberty they take the crayons away and replace them with dry, uninspiring books on algebra, history, etc.

Being suddenly, hit years later with the ‘creative bug’ is just a wee voice telling you, ‘I’d like my crayons back, please.”

You may have been practicing your creative process your entire life or, like me, you put down the crayons at some point in your childhood and years later became hit with the creative bug.

Either way, today may be a good opportunity to bring some of that childhood play back.

Science journalist Catherine Price (featured in the video above) recently published a book called, The Power of Fun. Price has also written a book titled, How to Break up with Your Phone. Could that be another key to getting back to enjoying your creativity??

Hi Reader, Hope you're doing well and enjoying the arrival of spring! Even though it's been pretty chilly and rainy where I am, I've managed to sneak in a few sketching sessions at my local boatyard.
