For the Painter #59: Creativity is vital

Published over 1 year ago • 1 min read

Hi Reader,

Yay, it's October. Fall is my favorite time of year. How about you?

To celebrate, I'm doing some eco printing this weekend with leaves from my friend's yard. The pages are still wet, so I'll share a picture next time.

No matter what you're up to this weekend, take 9 minutes and watch this talk by Ethan Hawke called "Give yourself permission to be creative."

A few of my favorite lines from the video are:

Creativity is vital. It's the way we heal each other.

There is no path till you walk it.

Have a good week,

Vinita

Text messages, funny dog videos, and laundry distract us from meaningful time spent on our creativity. This meaningful time is what Cal Newport...

Hi Reader, Hope you're doing well and enjoying the arrival of spring! Even though it's been pretty chilly and rainy where I am, I've managed to sneak in a few sketching sessions at my local boatyard. Since the weather hasn't been too cooperative, I've had to get creative with my sketching spots. I've found a few spots where I can paint from the back of my car, using the hatchback door as an umbrella for when it's lightly raining. And on those super rainy days, I've resorted to sketching from...
