For the Painter #64: Gratitude can transform

Published over 1 year ago • 1 min read

Hi Reader,

I hope you're doing well and looking forward to Thanksgiving.

I have plenty to be thankful for this holiday season. Yesterday, I took a long walk through the fields with my mom and treasured every moment. Her path this year included a discovery of a brain tumor, brain surgery, and spinal meningitis. She's made a big loop circling back to health and walking with her yesterday was a special treat.

Behind the scenes this year, I've been studying to become a certified creativity coach. This has been my long-time desire, and this year I decided to go for it.

A creativity coach helps you unblock and unleash your creativity for the arts and a deeper enjoyment of life in general. Different than life coaching, creativity coaching uses a gentle, low-pressure approach, helps you connect with your own intuition, and makes the process fun.

I'm only steps away from certification and look forward to helping people work through blocks and rediscover the joy in their creative process.

My homework part one: My instructor has asked me to reach out to friends and colleagues and ask what they think would make me a good creativity coach. This is out of my comfort zone, but please respond to this email if you have a moment and share why you think I would be a good creativity coach. Many thanks for considering my request.

My homework part two: I'm also required to work with a few people over the next month or two to complete my certification requirements. If you or someone you know struggles with procrastination, overwhelm, frustration, or just not getting to your creative project, send me an email, and I'll share more info.

“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.”

—William Arthur Ward

I hope you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Here's to turning routine jobs into joy, as I'm off to do laundry.

With gratitude,

Vinita

Hi Reader, I hope you are doing well. Spring is just around the corner, which is always a wonderful feeling. Thank you for being a loyal follower of my art and this newsletter. I've been on a sabbatical from writing, an extended bereavement leave. But like the emergence of spring, I'm slowly finding my way back in a nurturing way. Eight months ago, my husband Nick died unexpectedly at home. Nick was my rock, best friend, and north star in my night sky. Always my number one fan, he encouraged...

Hi Reader, The May Co-Create Sessions are starting tomorrow, and I wanted to share with you why you may want to join us. These online sessions are a great opportunity to work on your creative projects in a supportive setting. We all know how hard it can be to find the time and focus to create, especially when there are so many distractions around us. Text messages, funny dog videos, and laundry distract us from meaningful time spent on our creativity. This meaningful time is what Cal Newport...

Hi Reader, Hope you're doing well and enjoying the arrival of spring! Even though it's been pretty chilly and rainy where I am, I've managed to sneak in a few sketching sessions at my local boatyard. Since the weather hasn't been too cooperative, I've had to get creative with my sketching spots. I've found a few spots where I can paint from the back of my car, using the hatchback door as an umbrella for when it's lightly raining. And on those super rainy days, I've resorted to sketching from...
